What is Couples Therapy? 

The goal of couples therapy is to improve the relationship between two individuals by helping partners identify and address the issues that are causing conflict or distance between them. Through improving their communication skills, conflict-resolution skills, the couples' emotional connection can be strengthen. Therapy also provides a safe and supportive space for couples to explore their feelings, goals, and values, and to work together to build a stronger and healthier relationship. 

Why Couples Therapy

Couples may choose to undergo therapy for a variety of reasons, such as communication issues, infidelity, sexual problems, and parenting concerns. It could also be for one partner to better support the other through their mental health journey (e.g., addiction, depression). One of the most important aspects of couples therapy is the therapist's impartial role as a mediator. 

What to expect from Couples Therapy?

Depending on your needs, the therapist may use different approaches such as the Gottman Method or Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

 

Our therapists will help you and your partner identify patterns of behaviour that may be contributing to conflict and help you develop strategies to address them. Our therapist will also provide support and guidance as you and your partner work through your challenges. Ultimately, the goal of couple therapy is to help you and your partner develop a stronger and healthier relationship by improving communication, resolving conflicts, and learning new skills to manage stress and maintain a positive outlook.
